Campus Life Component
Eckerd's academic curriculum is enhanced by programming beyond the classroom, including the International Cinema Series, Environmental Film Festival and offerings by various offices and various student clubs. These campus units will host related events ranging from film screenings to guest speakers and dialogues to readings, from musical concerts to dance and theater performances and visual arts exhibits to special events. Some of these units may decide to collaborate with each other and/or with faculty efforts in the classroom. These activities will be spearheaded by the respective offices and will be part of Eckerd's College Program Series, a curriculum requirement which further enhances students' learning, and Eckerd's Presidential Events Series, a collection of selected events featuring distinguished speakers and performers from around the world. These Eckerd College units and disciplines have expressly supported The Plight and Promise of Africa initiative:

Eckerd College Organization of Students
ECOS is the student government association for all students in the residential program of Eckerd College. The purpose of ECOS is to represent the interests of the entire student body, to ensure that the rights and freedoms of all students are protected, to play an active role in the operation and policy making of Eckerd College, and to coordinate the activities of the student body of Eckerd College." ECOS represents the collective effort of many students, acting in collaboration with many parts of campus.
African Interest Group
Each week, Eckerd College students lead a group discussion about issues affecting individual African nations or the continent as a whole. Participating students have various African experiences – some have performed mission work or volunteer service, others are concerned about current news and events and matters of social justice, and many have a general interest in expanding their knowledge about Africa itself. All are welcome to attend their weekly meetings, held Tuesday nights at 7 p.m. in Brown Hall 103.
Afro-American Society
The Afro-American Society enables Eckerd students to act as an effective force to combat racism. By creating a community of political, social, and academic awareness, AAS helps to make Black students and the Eckerd community aware of the educational and cultural offerings at Eckerd College. The Afro-American Society works to assist in the creation of a college community that will become aware of the culture of Black people and increase the responsiveness of Eckerd College to the Black Community at-large.
Palmetto Productions
The purpose of Eckerd's student activities board is to entertain, enlighten and educate the student body. The group is responsible for selecting, planning, coordinating, and executing campus-wide social, recreational, and entertainment events and activities for the Eckerd College Community.
Women's Resource Center
The Women's Resource Center at Eckerd College encourages and facilitates activism in a new generation of feminists and seeks to raise awareness of issues that affect the lives of women from diverse backgrounds, with the ultimate goal of establishing equality for all people regardless of sex.
